NEWFANE -- The First Congregational Church of Newfane will celebrate Heritage Festival weekend on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 8 a.m. beginning with a service of prayer led by the Rev. Dr. Chris Petrak. This service is for those who wish to attend before the opening of the festival activities.
At the 10 a.m. service, the Rev. Robert Hamm will speak on "Faith at Heart" with scripture from Jeremiah 29:1, 4-7. Congregational hymns are "For the Beauty of the Earth," "Come and Find the Quiet Center" and "Christ, You Call Us All to Service." Martha LaMoria, organist/music director, will play the prelude "Sciliana from Concerto No. 5," the offertory music "Bourree from Water Music," and the postlude "March from Scipio" all by G. F. Handel.
The church is handicap accessible by both elevator and chair lift. On Oct. 20, the Rev. Dr. James Scott will be guest speaker in the pulpit. There will also be a "wrap-up" session for the Heritage Festival with a light lunch served to those participating.
Events for the week include Al-Anon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday; Linus Quilters at 1 p.m., Sew What’s at 5 p.m. on Tuesday; Ladies Aid coffee at 10 a.m. and meeting at 10:30 a.m., Handbell rehearsal at 5 p.m. and Choir rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
