BRATTLEBORO -- Worship at First United Methodist Church on Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. will celebrate Laity Sunday. Lay leader Douglas Reed will lead the service which will include a dramatic retelling by Mary Anne and Dennis Deer of the parable of the widow and the judge. The scripture may be found in Luke 18:1-8.
Jenny Hinton will share a reflection based on Miranda Lambert’s country song, "All Kinds of Kinds." Mary Anne Deer, Patti French, Leslie Kramsky, Jean MacLean, Betty Stacy and Cheryl Meachen will present "billowing" (liturgical dance using long bands of cloth) to the "Servant Song."
A double duet with Jane Clarke, Patti French, Lillian Hellinger and Betty Stacy will sing "My Best Friend." Leslie Kramsky will present the Children’s Message. Members are encouraged to stay for a potluck lunch and the Annual Church Conference with District Superintendent Brigid Farrell following worship.
