BRATTLEBORO -- The Deacons at Centre Congregational Church in downtown Brattleboro have chosen Sunday, Oct. 27, to honor those who have been members of the congregation for 25 years or more. This annual event, held in October since 1995, is called Silver Bells Sunday and is led by Marion Daley. Mike and Julie Ball will become honorees this year.
Worship is at 10 a.m. and is led by the Rev. Carra McFadden. A reception, hosted by the Deacons, will be held in the church parlor following the Silver Bells service; all are welcome.
The stewardship theme this year is "Surprising Gifts," supporting the ministry at Centre Church. October’s special offerings supports Neighbors in Need, for the UCC’s ministries of justice and compassion.
A Bible Study titled "God’s Surprises," led by Steve Peterson, retired college professor from Trinity College, Hartford, Conn., continues through October, both before worship at 9 a.m. and repeated on Mondays at 7:30 p.m.
