NEWFANE -- Reformation and Reconciliation Sunday will be observed at the First Congregational Church of Newfane on Sunday, Nov. 3. The Sacrament of Communion will also be celebrated. The Rev. Robert Hamm’s sermon is titled "Love Change" with scripture from Luke 19:1-10, the story of Zacchaeus. Congregational hymns are "For All the Saints," "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot," and "Faith of our Fathers." The choir will sing the communion offertory "We Remember You" by Walt Harrah. Martha LaMoria, organist/music director, will play the prelude "Idyll" by James Denton and the postlude "Processional and Trumpet Tune" by Edward H. Wetherill.
Worship is at 10 a.m. with Sunday School at 10:15 a.m. and a coffee hour immediately following the service. There is choir rehearsal at 9 a.m. preceding the worship service. The church is handicap accessible with both an elevator and a chair lift.
The Mission of the Month for November is Morningside Shelter.
The Townshend Food Shelf continues to receive the support of the church with donations of non-perishable food items, personal care items, diapers/wipes, children’s food, laundry and cleaning supplies. The church will also be providing meals for the Overflow Shelter on the first Friday of each month again this year.
Events for the week include Al-Anon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday; Sew What’s at 5 p.m. on Tuesday; Deacons, Trustees and Council meetings on Wednesday; Handbell rehearsal at 5 p.m. and Choir rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
