WEST CHESTERFIELD, N.H. -- The Rev. Arthur Reublinger will lead a service the on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 10 a.m. at the First Universalist Church in West Chesterfield. His topic will be " ‘I’m On A Mission’ adds zest to faith!" Organist Sylvia Fairbanks will provide music.
In the histories of most churches, "missions" and "missionaries" were a central feature of the church experience. In fact, sponsoring missions and the people who fulfilled them could be seen as a test of validity for a church. When faith communities gather together and agree upon an ideal, they ordinarily are eager to share this thought or this accomplishment with others.
Some well known churches in this country encourage or conscript members to physically visit people in their homes to try to pique their interest in becoming part of that religion. Although they can become the brunt of jokes and ridicule, their commitment and sacrifice are truly praise-worthy. Other churches have generated missions to help with natural disasters or to bring their religious principles to others.
What concerns energize you? What social or educational programs are important enough to you to go door to door to support? A vital mission will rally our townspeople as well as ourselves.
These options will be explored at Sunday’s service led by Rev. Reublinger, chaplain for Compassionate Care Hospice in Londonderry,
