WESTMINSTER WEST -- The Congregational Church of Westminster West will remember the saints of our lives by celebrating All Saints’ Sunday during the 10 a.m. service on Nov. 3. Early in the service, worshippers will have the opportunity to light candles and place them on the communion table to remember the lives of the ordinary saints.
Surrounded by what St. Paul called this "great cloud of witnesses," participants will receive holy communion, contemplate the story of Elijah’s encounter with the Holy One in the stillness after the storm, pray and sing.
The choir will sing, and congregational hymns will include "For All the Saints," "Dear God, Embracing Humankind," and "O Savior, for the Saints." Musicians for the day will include Margit Lilly on organ, and Nick Keil and friends on guitar and vocals.
There will be plenty of candles available for worshippers to light, but those who wish to bring their own candles are welcome to do so.
The Congregational Church of Westminster West is an Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ. The congregation celebrates at an open table, meaning that all who wish to receive holy communion are welcome to do so.
