BRATTLEBORO -- Following worship on Sunday, Nov. 24, Centre Congregational Church in downtown Brattleboro voted to adopt the Open and Affirming Statement of Affirmation, "We Are One," and amend the church bylaws to include the statement. This culminated more than two years of study and conversation, led by the Open and Affirming Task Force. It was a landmark decision involving all members present.
The First Sunday of Advent will be celebrated at 10 a.m. worship this Sunday, Dec. 1, and will include the Sacrament of Holy Communion and the Baptism of Henry Edward Pritchett Grobe. The Rev. Carra McFadden will preach the sermon on "The End of the World" based on the text from Matthew 24: 36-44. The children and teens will help decorate the sanctuary with the hanging of the greens. Michael Mario is the director of Christian Education and Kidz Club is preparing for the Christmas Pageant.
Everyone is welcome at the monthly Moment for Peace, to be held during Gallery Walk on Friday, Dec. 6, at 5:30 p.m. in the church parlor. Damaris Bernhard of Brattleboro, a minister, musician and song-writer, is the leader.
