GUILFORD -- Preparations which have been under way for weeks come to fruition today from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Guilford Community Church’s Annual Christmas Bazaar. In addition to handmade crafts, specialty cookie platters and baked goods, decorated wreaths, and a wide variety of white elephant items, a special raffle table will feature a beautiful eight-pointed star quilt made specially for the bazaar by Peg Hunter.
Raffle tickets, $1 each or $5 for six, will be available for purchase during the bazaar and can also be used on other raffle items such as an American Girl doll, Vermont products gift basket, hand-knit chenille scarf, and gift certificates to area businesses. A luncheon of hearty soups, sandwiches, and pie will be on sale, as well as coffee and hot chocolate throughout the day. One-of-a-kind Christmas gifts, stocking stuffers, homemade goodies for a family gathering, and community warmth and good cheer may be found at the bazaar.
Sunday’s service at 10 a.m. will offer a time of rest, celebration and welcoming of the season. Favorite hymns and two especially beautiful anthems: "Gloria" and "Alleluia, Rejoice" by the choir under the direction of Peter Amidon and the story of the Annunciation of the birth of Christ will provide the focus of the service. The children will continue preparing for the pageant to be held on Dec. 22 and will make small wooden creches as a way to learn the Christmas story. Everyone is welcome.
