BRATTLEBORO -- For the First Sunday after Epiphany, the Rev. Carra McFadden of Centre Congregational Church in downtown Brattleboro will lead 10 a.m. worship. Her sermon title is "The One Another Community: Hospitality," based on the text from 1 Peter 4:8-11. Various forms of "One Another Communities" will be her sermon topics through the end of February, highlighting our common bond in Christ through church participation.
The weekly 9 a.m. book study on Sundays is based on Karen Armstrong’s "Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life," and all are welcome. Newcomers are invited to learn more about this faith community by joining the pastor at her home at 5:30 p.m. on Sundays, Jan. 12 and 19.
The Quilting Ministry meets at 1:30 p.m. Thursdays at the home of Gisela Robeck, 63 Green Meadow, West Brattleboro. The choir meets Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 9 p.m. in preparation for the performance of Vivaldi’s "Gloria" at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, in the sanctuary, and again during worship Sunday, Jan. 26.
The Special Offering for January will support the Luz del Mundo Scholarship for children at our sister parish in El Salvador. Centre Church is a congregation of the United Church of Christ and is located at 193 Main St., Brattleboro.
