DUMMERSTON -- Worship at Dummerston Congregational Church on Sunday, Feb. 2, is a communion service. The sermon continues a series on the "Signs" in the Gospel of John with the story of Jesus walking on the water in John 6: 16-21. The Meditation is "I Am."
The children’s story is about the boy Samuel from I Samuel 1-3. Children begin in worship and then go to an open classroom and a program with Billie Slade, Church School Director. There will be Bible study for adults after worship on the scripture for Feb. 16, John 9: 1-41, the healing of the man born blind. Music leadership will be provided by Franz Robert, organist.
This is "Souper Bowl" Sunday. All are invited to bring a favorite or low-sodium soup for a local soup kitchen and to bring a pot-ready addition to our coffee hour soup that will cook during worship. A donation basket for a local soup kitchen will be available at coffee hour.
The special offering for the day will go to the Deacons’ Fund to help Dummerston families in crisis. Checks may be made to DCC and marked Deacons. Non-perishable foods, toiletries, household item, blankets, tents and tarps for the Drop-In Center may be left in the church entry.
Tonight (Feb. 1) is a Community Potluck and Games Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Hot dogs and fixings will be provided. All are invited to bring a salad, side dish or dessert to share and a favorite game or puzzle. Everyone is welcome to this fun community event.
Next Sunday there will be a congregational meeting after worship.
