NEWFANE -- The First Congregational Church of Newfane will meet for worship at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, with Sunday School at 10:15 a.m. The title of Rev. Robert Hamm’s sermon will be "Salt and Light, Taste and Sight" with responsive reading from Psalm 112:1-10 and the scripture reading from Matthew 5:13-20.

Congregational hymns are "For the Healing of the Nations," "Lord, I Want to Be a Christian" and "Renew Your Church." The church choir will sing the anthem "The Gift of Love" by Hal Hopson based on I Corinthians 13. The prelude "Presence Divine" by Lani Smith and the postlude "Praise Ye the Father from Marche Romaine" by Charles F. Gound and arranged by Dorothy Wells will be offered by organist/music director Martha LaMoria.

Immediately following the service, the annual financial meeting of the church will be held.

Upcoming events for the week include Al-Anon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday; Sew What’s at 5 p.m. Tuesday; Monthly Senior Luncheon at noon (lasagna for the entrée) and Bell Choir rehearsal at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

On Sunday, Feb. 23, at 3 p.m. a Service of Installation for the Rev. Hamm as Pastor and Teacher of Newfane Congregational Church will be held. Fellowship and refreshments will follow.

The Mission of the Month for February is Grace Cottage Hospital.

The church is handicap accessible by both chair lift and elevator and all are welcome. Office hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
