DUMMERSTON -- The healing of the man born blind in John 9 is the focus of the sermon, "Sight and Insight," at the Dummerston Congregational Church on Sunday, Feb. 16. The children’s story is about the boy Isaac from Genesis 17-21. Children begin in worship and then go to an open classroom and a program with Billie Slade, church school director. Music leadership will be provided by Franz Robert, organist.

After worship there will be a presentation by Bruce Whitney of the H.E.A.T. Squad. The Windham & Windsor Housing Trust is partnering with NeighborWorks of Western Vermont, to bring the NeighborWorks H.E.A.T. Squad services to homeowners in Windham and Windsor counties. The program helps customers of all income levels save by weatherizing homes with the NeighborWorks HEAT Squad.

The squad makes it easy to complete home energy improvements, offering: discounted home energy check-ups (audits) for $100 (normal cost is $300-$500; information about the benefits associated with home energy improvements; hassle-free scheduling with contractors; on-staff, certified Energy Advisors who provide guidance about the proposed work; support with determining how to pay for efficiency investments; community efforts to help our neighbors through NeighborWorks Week, June 7-15. Come learn how you can save money, help the environment, improve your comfort and help your neighbors.

The church joins with the Evening Star Grange in serving the Overflow Shelter meal on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Non-perishable foods, toiletries, household items, blankets, tents and tarps for the Drop-In Center may be left in the church entry.

The children are rising funds to "Adopt an orphan elephant," as part of their care for creation. Redeemable bottles may be left at the church or dropped off at the Brattleboro Redemption Center, 693 Putney Road, behind the Windham Animal Hospital, 802-257-4195.
