BRATTLEBORO -- Looking ahead to spring, Pastor Suzanne Andrews of First Baptist Church expresses her congratulations to the Rev. David Garrecht as he plans ahead for the 50th anniversary of his graduation from Andover Newton Seminary and ordination. She is reminded that First Baptist Church of Brattleboro was his first pastorate, after which he served churches throughout New England and Wyoming. When he retired in 1999, he and Mrs. Garrecht returned to their home church in Brattleboro. They will sing together for special music during Sunday’s service, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m.

The Mission Committee reminds members and friends that since it is February, the annual appeal is taking place for the $5 blanket that may be purchased from Church World Service.

Church World Service is a cooperative ministry of 35 Protestant, Orthodox and Anglican denominations working to end hunger and poverty, providing help and disaster relief and assistance around the world. It provides blankets, tents and kits for health, disaster, school and baby care.

In the past, the blankets have been given to the Brattleboro Drop-In Center and have been seen at the Overflow Shelter at First Baptist Church, 190 Main St. in downtown Brattleboro.
