GUILFORD -- Guilford Community Church, United Church of Christ, will continue through Epiphany, the season of light, on Sunday, Feb. 16, focusing on spiritual transformations. Pastor Lise Sparrow’s sermon will focus on Jesus’ baptism and the baptism of disciples in Acts 19: 1-7 as significant transformations. The Rev. Larrimore Crockett will lead the choir in two anthems, "He Came Down That We May Have Love," based on a folk melody from Cameroon, and "Love is the Touch," lyrics by Alison Robertson, music by John Bell.
The Sunday School will continue their activities focused on acts of kindness. The children’s collections this month will go to purchase uniforms for children in Kenya who have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS. At 9 a.m. the junior youth group will meet to plan the upcoming trip to Fossil Rim, a wildlife refuge in Glen Rose, Texas. All middle-schoolers are welcome.
