NEWFANE -- The First Congregational Church of Newfane will observe the Sixth Sunday after Epiphany at the worship service on Sunday, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Robert Hamm will bring the message "Choose Wisely" with scripture reading from the book of Deuteronomy, chapter 30, verses 15-20.

Congregational hymns are "Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven," "O God in Whom All Life Begins" and "Sing a New Church." The church choir will sing the anthem "In Heavenly Love Abiding" by Gilbert Martin/Anna Waring.

Martha LaMoria, church organist/music director, will play the prelude "Poeme" by Zdenko Fibich and arranged by Roger C. Wilson, and the postlude "Postlude in C" by Robert J. Hughes.

Sunday School for the children will begin at 10:15 a.m. with child care also available. The choir will practice at 8:45 a.m.

Next Sunday, Feb. 23, at 3 p.m., there will be a service of installation for the Rev. Robert Hamm as settled pastor and teacher of First Congregational Church of Newfane. There will be fellowship and refreshments to follow the service. All are welcome.

Events for this upcoming week are Al-Anon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday; Linus Quilters at 1 p.m. on Tuesday; and Hand Bell rehearsal at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The deadline for the March Steeple is Wednesday, Feb. 19.

The church is handicap accessible with both chair lift and elevator and all are welcome to worship.
