NEWFANE -- The First Congregational Church of Newfane will meet at 10 a.m. on Feb. 23 for the Seventh Sunday after Epiphany. The Rev. Robert Hamm will speak on "News from the Best Place on Earth" with scripture reading from the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 5, verses 38-48.

The congregational hymns are "Built on the Rock," "Your Love, O God, Has Called Us" and "My Hope is Built on Nothing Less." The choir will sing "All Things Bright and Beautiful" by Alexander/Shaw. The prelude, "Lord, I Want To Be a Christian" arranged by Douglas E. Wagner, will be presented by the Newfane Community Hand Bells. The postlude, "The Power and the Glory" by Roy Nolte, played by organist/music director Martha LaMoria. Choir rehearsal is at 8:45 a.m. and Sunday School at 10:15 a.m.

At 3 p.m. an installation service for Rev. Robert Hamm as settled pastor and teacher will be held. Special music will be given by the Newfane Community Hand Bells and the church choir. Guests from surrounding churches and from the UCC will be in attendance. Light refreshments and fellowship will follow the service. All members of the Newfane community and surrounding towns are invited.

Events for the upcoming week include Al-Anon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday; Sew What’s at 5 p.m. Tuesday; Men’s Group at 10 a.m. and Hand Bell rehearsal at 5 p.m. on Thursday. A reminder to all that there is a continuing need for donations to the Townshend Food Shelf.

Newfane Church is handicap accessible by both elevator and chair lift. All are welcome.
