DUMMERSTON -- This Sunday, the Dummerston Church at 10 a.m. will celebrate Communion by Intinction, a way to share the common cup without drinking from it. Every Sunday until Palm Sunday the church will celebrate communion as one of a number of ways to enter into the holiness of the Lenten season. Each week, the scripture will be from John 12-17, Jesus’ words to his disciples the last night of his life. This week the scripture is John 13: 21-38 and the Meditation is "Betrayal and Love."
Music will be provided by Franz Robert, organist. The Children’s story by Pastor Susanna Griefen continues a series of stories about Communion. This week’s story is "One Body," based on I Corinthians 12. All are invited to join in Bible Study of the scripture for the week to come, after worship, individually, or in informal groups.
This is Gun Violence Prevention Sabbath. Dummerston and places of worship across the nation are joining the Washington National Cathedral and Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence to remember those who have lost their lives to gunfire. Ann Brandon from Gun Sense Vermont will meet after coffee hour with those interested. She co-founded and now leads Gun Sense Vermont, a statewide gun violence prevention organization, focused on keeping guns out of the wrong hands.
Wednesdays at 6 p.m., there is a gathering for Healing Prayer in the parsonage office to talk about concerns, light candles, and have hands on healing prayer for those who desire it.
