BRATTLEBORO -- Matthew Miller, 31, took the position of Lead Pastor at Community Bible Chapel of Brattleboro on May 1. Joining Matthew "Matt" is his wife Rachel and his son Lukas Gregory (11 months).
Pastor Miller is a 2005 graduate of Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, Pa., and graduated with a degree in Theology and Biblical Studies. Rachel is also a graduate (2008) of Baptist Bible with a Counseling/Psychology degree.
He was born in Wooster, Ohio, and lived in Northern Ohio for 18 years before attending school in Pennsylvania. His wife was born in Chillicothe, Ohio (Southern Ohio), and she too lived there for 18 years before attending school in Pennsylvania. They met each other at school and were married on July 31, 2010.
In March of 2008, Pastor Miller and friends started a church in Scranton, Pa., called Steamtown Church, which is still in operation, doing well with up to 200 regular attendees on Sundays. He pastored Steamtown Church for four years. In July of 2012, with the full blessing and support of Steamtown Church, the couple moved to Keene, N.H., to start another church, and in June of 2013 their son Lukas Gregory Miller was born.
Over the course of their time in Keene, he was moved to seek a position at an established church rather than continue to pursue starting a church from scratch. And this led him to Community Bible Chapel where he is now Lead Pastor.
They have found an apartment in Brattleboro and will take residence in June.
Community Bible Chapel will hold a welcoming Luncheon for the Millers at the Church, 107 Atwood St. in Brattleboro, on Sunday, May 18, at noon. The service begins at 9:30 a.m. and coffee fellowship is at 10:30 a.m. The public is invited to welcome the Millers to Community Bible Chapel and the town of Brattleboro.
