BRATTLEBORO -- On Friday afternoon at Sawyer Field, the defending champion Brattleboro softball team bested Hartford, 6-2.

Hannah Wilson picked up the victory. She fanned six, walked eight, hit five batters and gave up just two hits.

"We need to continue to work on control and hitting targets. She got herself in trouble in a few innings and was able to work out of them. Defensively, we didn’t commit an error," said Colonels coach Kelly Markol. " Offensively, we had nine hits."

Maddy Derosia led the way with two hits and two runs batted in, Devin Millerick was 2-for-4, Hannah Wilson tripled and had two RBI’s and Siera Butler doubled, while Jess Ogden, Casey Manning and Alex Derosia all singled.

The 8-4 Colonels will play at Otter Valley today at 5 p.m. Brattleboro is currently ranked fifth in Division 1, behind Essex (12-0), MAU (11-0), BFA-St. Albans (10-1) and Missisquoi (10-2).
