BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro duos of Katie Tsukamoto-Haley Marcil and Emily Tanis-Laura Armijo swept the doubles matches on Wednesday as the Colonel girls tennis team outscored visiting Bellows Falls, 6-1, in the final regular-season match of the year.

"Bellows Falls has a young roster and they will be tough next year," said BUHS coach Tom Weber, whose team improved to 5-9 overall.

At first doubles, Tsukamoto and Marcil took care of Keisha Wilcox and Tessa Bynorth 6-0, 6-2. Tanis and Armijo won second doubles 6-4, 7-5 over the Bellows Falls tandem of Ellie Guyon-Nora Bright.

Taylor Bird, Jenn Hutton, Grace Willingham and Jaida Henry all won a singles match for the Colonels. Taylor Westfall prevailed at No. 4 singles for the Terriers.

"Senior captains Jenn Hutton and Katie Tsukamoto played their last home high school match today. Both have been major contributors since they were freshmen. It will be strange not to have them around the courts. I will miss them," stated Weber.

WILMINGTON -- The Wildcats, who were on a four-game winning streak, committed seven errors in Wednesday’s loss to the Chieftains.

"It was not a good night for the Wildcats, but you have to expect one of these kinds of games now and then," said Twin Valley coach Jim Burke.

Both of Twin Valley’s runs came in the seventh inning. Dylan Johnson was hit by a pitch and Craig Green singled, before Cade Nesbitt delivered with a two-run double.

The Wildcats will host Woodstock today.
