RUTLAND -- The Brattleboro Union High School varsity boys lacrosse team got back on track with a 15-5 win over Rutland on Saturday.

The Raiders threw a zone look at the Colonels which slowed the game down early, but the BUHS offense eventually found its way. Up 3-0 after the first quarter, the Colonels extended the lead to 7-1 at the half and outscored the Raiders 8-4 the rest of the way.

Leading scorers for the winners were Robyn Avery (3 goals), Jack Gagnon (3 goals), Sam Siegel (2 goals, 4 assists) and Tanner Freeman (2 goals, 2 assists). Brennen Zolnoski and Conner Elliott-Knaggs added a goal and an assist each, and Perry Legg, Jake Atomanuk and Evan Perkins added single goals. Goalie Ian Cebek finished the day with four saves.

Brattleboro will meet Woodstock in a Marble Valley League showdown on Wednesday night under the lights of Natowich Field, with the winner staking its claim to the MVL title. The 11-3 Colonels, who are looking for their fourth consecutive MVL crown, won at Woodstock (9-3) earlier in the season by a score of 10-9.

The Woodstock-Brattleboro showdown will begin at 7 p.m.
