BRATTLEBORO -- The New England Colonials International Basketball Club is seeking host families in the Brattleboro area to host the young players on its International Colonials team on July 3 and July 4. This unique team of 11 players, ages 16 and 17, from 11 countries, is coming to the United States for a three-week basketball tour of New England.
These players are recommended to the program by their club and school coaches overseas. Many play for their national teams and all speak English. Host families are needed for a two-day homestay. The International Colonials teams have traditionally celebrated the 4th of July in Vermont.
This year's International Colonials team is coached by Rychard de Jong of the Netherlands. The players are: Nemanja Aleksic of Serbia, Aldin Avdic of Austria, Amedeo Casale of Romania, Carlo Fumagalli of Italy, Cameron Harris of Scotland, Douglas McAllister of Switzerland, Victor Egon Mijas of Brazil, Martin Neary of Ireland, Gustavs Treimanis of Latvia, Dominykas Tucis of Lithuania, and Pim Vriends of the Netherlands.
The International Colonials program is sponsored by the New England Colonials International Basketball Club. Founded in 1980, the New England Colonials International Basketball Club is a non-profit, volunteer-run program that has as its central purpose the support and encouragement of international friendship and understanding between New England student-athletes and their peers around the world.
