BRATTLEBORO -- The Hinsdale varsity girls cross country team is aiming high after placing fourth in the Granite State Conference Championship and 19th in the Division 3 state meet last season.
"The girls team should have a strong season," said Pacers coach Glenn Hammett. "Right now, it seems possible that we could battle for the Granite State Conference title."
Senior captain Starr Bruce has trained hard during the summer, according to her coach. Speedy sophomore Skyler LeClair, who started for the school’s state championship basketball team, was near the front of the pack in every race in 2013 before having to sit out the state meet with an injury.
"Though it’s early in practice, freshman Gabrial LeClair looks to have potential for immediate success this season. I’m excited to get some data after our first meet," added Hammett.
The Hinsdale girls and boys cross country teams will debut in a multi-team meet at Fall Mountain on Friday, Aug. 29, at 4 p.m. Their lone home meet is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 4 p.m.
The Hinsdale boys team finished seventh in last year’s Granite State Conference Championship and 28th in the Division 3 meet.
"This year will be another season where we are trying to build for the future. I’ve been pleased with Drew Cooper and I am excited to see if our three freshmen can build a passion that sets them up for exciting running careers," stated coach Hammett.
