DUMMERSTON -- Sunday at the Dummerston Congregational Church, the scripture lesson is Romans 12: 1-8 and the sermon by the Rev. Susanna Griefen is "Be Transformed by the Renewing of Your Minds." Music leadership will be provided by organist Franz Robert. Children begin in worship and then go to an open classroom where they will continue their study of Kenya under the direction of Heather Golding.
Wednesday at 7 p.m., there will be a program sponsored by the Open and Affirming Committee of the congregation. A local pastor will meet with those who are interested to talk about her experience growing up in the church and what was helpful, and what was hurtful, when she came out as a gay woman.
The church continues its summer food collection for The Drop-In Center. The Mission and Outreach Committee invites all to bring nonperishable items to the church each Sunday for the Drop in Center. Extra garden produce is also needed. Collections for Church World Service School Kits continue. Each bag needs: One pair of blunt metal scissors (rounded tip), one 30-centimeter ruler (12"), one hand-held pencil sharpener, larger size, one large eraser, six new pencils with erasers, one box of 24 crayons (only 24), and $2 for shipping costs. Or a donation may be made for items to be purchased in bulk.
