Following a devastating fire in 2010, the congregation of the First Baptist Church of South Londonderrry continues its recovery process, seeking donations to rebuild its church.

SOUTH LONDONDERRY >> The First Baptist Church of South Londonderry continues its fundraising effort for is capital campaign in its effort to rebuild following a devastating fire in 2010.

A stained glass windows named in memory of a loved one, as a gift from a group, family, or person. The names will be painted on the windows themselves, so that future generations will remember your generous donation or your loved one.

A few weeks after the church caught fire, Pastors Chris and Kathleen Blackey got a phone call from a local contractor, Jeff Wheeler. He had just been up to Vermont Salvage in White River Junction and saw that they had a number of stained glass windows that the congregation might be interested in. A short time later, a couple of church representatives drove up and found that they were very similar to the ones that were destroyed in the fire. Vermont Salvage had just the right number of windows — eight large stained glass windows and three small ones). The church ended up purchasing the windows and Vermont Salvage boxed them up and stored them for five years at no charge.

The congregation has completed the shell of the building, all of the stained glass windows are installed, and most of the landscaping is done. The interior of the building is roughed in with rooms and stairways in place, however $300,000 is still needed to install the sprinkler system, plumbing/heating and elevator and to complete the electric work.

A $10,000 donation will result in your name or group be painted on a large stained glass window and a $5,000 donation will have the name painted on one of the smaller windows. If anyone is very generous by giving $100,000 or more, the congregation will name the basement and meeting place "Fellowship Hall" in their honor.
