BRATTLEBORO -- The public is invited to a concert featuring organist Christopher Lewis and flautist, Alison Hale, on Tuesday, May 13, at 8 p.m. at Centre Congregational Church at 193 Main St. in Brattleboro.

Lewis currently is organist and director of music at Centre Church. He has performed concerts in numerous locations including New York, Detroit, San Francisco, Italy, and Canada. He has won a number of national competition prizes and has recordings on the Newport Classics label. He will be playing the beautiful 2,345 pipe Estey organ in the sanctuary.

Since making her New York City debut at Carnegie Recital Hall in 1982 as winner of the Artists International competitions, Hale has performed in Lincoln Center, Merkin Hall, CAMI Hall, and many of the major churches in New York City.

A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and Mt. Holyoke College, she is currently on the faculties of Amherst College and Mt. Holyoke and is a member of the Portland, Maine Symphony Orchestra, Berkshire Bach Ensemble, and the Maine Baroque Ensemble. She is founder and director of Music at Orchard Hill in Brattleboro.

the United Church of Christ will hold its annual spring meeting prior to the concert. The meeting will begin with a light supper in the Centre Church parlor at 6 p.m., continue with worship led by host pastor, Rev. Marcia Cox, and then a business meeting at 7 p.m. featuring a vote on a new constitution for the association and the election of new officers.

Doors will open for the concert at 7:45 p.m. Anyone wishing to attend the concert only may enter the sanctuary at that time without disturbing the business meeting which will be in progress in the parlor. Admission is free, though donations will be welcomed.
