Post 5 takes first win of Legion baseball season

BELLOWS FALLS -- Brattleboro’s Post 5 beat Bellows Falls Post 37 Monday night, 2-1, in the first game of the local American Legion baseball season.

Post 5 accumulated seven hits over the course of play. Their first run came in the fourth, with Brattleboro’s Evan Parro knocking a double for the RBI. He had one other single. Teammate Kevin Tau had two singles, Girard Roberge had the team’s other RBI, and starter Sawyer Olsen smacked four hits and fanned five Bellows Falls batters.

Post 37’s sole run came in the second inning. "It wasn’t exactly a slug fest," said Claude Gouin, Post 5 manager. "Both teams played incredibly good baseball. It was a nice first game."
