DUMMERSTON -- Just call them "the Six Pack."

Hunter Smith, Tyler McKenney, Chris Lasch, Braden Meyer, Nate Greene and Oliver Goodman combined for 10 hits and eight RBI’s to lead Pepsi to a 12-1 rout of DMI during the first of two four-inning Babe Ruth baseball games on Wednesday evening.

McKenney went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles to pace the winners. Meyer, who hit in the cleanup spot, drove in a team-high three runs.

Pepsi stole a 4-0 advantage in the top of the first, thanks in part to a couple of DMI miscues. McKenney sparked the rally with an RBI double, while Meyer’s two-run single to right was the highlight. And Goodman added a base knock of his own.

That was more than enough for Pepsi starter Nate Greene. After giving up a mammoth RBI double to Chris McAuliffe in the bottom of the first, he shut DMI out the rest of the way.

Green fanned seven, walked three and allowed just two hits on the night. And he was helped out by his fellow infielders, as Lasch (catcher), Goodman (third base) and McKenney (shortstop) all made a spectacular defensive play.

Pepsi batted around in the second inning to up its lead to 8-0. Greene helped himself with a two-run single up the gut, McKenney doubled to left and the speedy Smith sprinted down the line for an infield hit. Eli Kapal contributed by drawing a bases-loaded walk and another run scored on an error.

Greene was able to escape in the bottom of three. After McAuliffe dumped a one-out single into right and George Atkins was hit by a pitch, Greene struck out the next two batters to end the threat.

McKenney, Lasch and Meyer all delivered with an RBI single in the fourth, and McKenney would score on a wild pitch, to give the visiting team a 12-1 lead. Greene fanned the first two he faced in the bottom of four and then made the play on Tanner Freeman’s grounder to finish it.
