BRATTLEBORO -- Brandon Reilly and Evan Parro each had a couple of hits as the Post 5 Legion baseball team sank South Royalton, 9-1, on Friday.
"I thought we played very well. They stayed focussed on the game. I think we’re coming together as a group," said Brattleboro coach Claude Gouin.
The winners put up two runs in the first and third frames, and exploded for five more in the fifth. Reilly went 2-for-4, Parro had two extra-base hits and drove in three runs, while Tommy Heydinger and Soren Pelz-Walsh each hit safely.
Pelz-Walsh went the distance for the victory. He fanned one, walked zero and scattered seven hits.
"Soren had a good day. He pitched really well. He kept us in the game," noted Gouin, who added that Parro played well at shortstop.
Brattleboro racked up 14 hits in Thursday’s 12-2 rout of Hartford. Parro tripled, homered and had four RBIs to lead the way. Reilly followed with three hits and he scored three runs.
Post 5 (6-2) will host a doubleheader against Rutland on Sunday at noon.
