BRATTLEBORO -- The 2012 Vermont State Little League Tournament will be played on the South Main Street field. On Saturday, South Burlington and Barre will square off at 1 p.m. and Brattleboro will take on Essex Town at 4 p.m.

The double elimination tourney could continue until Wednesday, July 25. Saturday’s losers will play each other on Sunday at 1 p.m. and Saturday’s winners will follow at 4 p.m. There will be one game at 6 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, and a finale on Wednesday at 6 p.m. if necessary.

The Brattleboro team is coached by Dave Heileman, Tom Murphy and Jim Waters. Their players are: Ian Fulton-Black, Tony Martinez, Dan Petrie, Leif Bigelow, Tanner Bell, Devin Millerick, Tyler Germain, Tom Carroll, Adam Curtis, Connor Weeks, Korie Cliche and Griffin Lynde.

Brattleboro got to the States by beating Bennington, 4-1, in the best-of-seven District 2 series. Dan Petrie went the distance on the hill, while Bigelow, Germain and Fulton-Black all had a pair of hits, in Game 5.

Babe Ruth

SAXTONS RIVER -- On Saturday at noon at Vermont Academy, Brattleboro and Burlington will go head-to-head in a loser’s bracket contest of the Babe Ruth 15-year-old Vermont State Tournament.

Last weekend, Brattleboro lost to Burlington 9-0 and bounced back with a 4-3 victory over Essex. Nate Greene, Chris McAuliffe and Kassidi Ramirez took turns pitching for Brattleboro versus Essex. Dakota Peterson, Hunter

St. Johnsbury is undefeated and will face the Burlington-Brattleboro winner at noon on Sunday.

The Brattleboro team is coached by Wayne Wright, Mike Atkins and Paul McAuliffe. Their players are: Ryan McAuliffe, Chris McAuliffe, George Atkins, John Curtis, Chris Lasch, Dakota Peterson, Rob Heileman, Cam Wright, Kassidi Ramirez, Hunter Smith, Nick Koskoris, Robin Avery and Nate Greene.

Jones Memorial

Brattleboro’s Cindy Meyer was the net championship runnerup and Brattleboro tied Rutland for the Pat Job Cup at the Ruth Raymond Jones Memorial Seniors’ Championship.

Reggie Parker of Ekwanok CC won her sixth Seniors’ title. She fired a 151 to win by a dozen strokes.

Competing for Brattleboro were: Elizabeth Walker, 8th, 168; Alicia Field, 26th, 186; Linda Evans, 33rd, 191; Barb Henry, 34th, 191; Wendy Scott, 37th, 192; Cindy Meyer, 42nd, 194; Sherryl Libardoni, 46th, 195; Judith Manley, 59th, 201; and Iedje Hornsby, 83rd, 223.

Competing for Bellows Falls were: Nancy Gorham-LaSante, 15th, 175; and Kathi Williams, 47th, 195.

Frosh Football Meeting
