WESTMINSTER -- The Bellows Falls girls soccer team beat a spirited Otter Valley squad, 1-0, Thursday, on a Lydia Pedigo penalty kick.
The first half was even with Enny Mustapha making two saves, and Otter Valley’s Courtney Poljacik making eight.
In the second half, the Terriers had the edge putting pressure on the opposing defense, with the Otters being dangerous on the break. Finally, with 11 minutes to go the pressure paid off with a cross sent in and a defender hand-balling it. Pedigo stepped up and placed the ball in the right corner.
The 2-1-1 Terriers will play at Williamstown on Tuesday.
Black River 1, Leland & Gray 0
TOWNSHEND -- Morgan Kathan scored in the first half and Black River held on for a 1-0 victory over the Leland & Gray girls soccer team on Thursday.
Kathan took seven total shots herself, while the Rebels finished with a dozen as a team.
"Black River likes to play on the ground and pass the ball around. They are a good possession team," said Rebels coach Lucas Bates, who noted that stopper/sweeper Ashley Goddard played really well.
Leland & Gray (2-3-1) will host Proctor on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
