NEWFANE -- Come join runners and walkers on Saturday, Oct. 13, as they take to scenic River Road in Newfane for the 4th annual 5K Fit & Fun Race, sponsored by the NewBrook Elementary PTO.
This officially-timed, family-friendly 5K event, which encourages every level and caliber of runners and walkers, is the PTO’s major fundraiser for important classroom enrichment programs at NewBrook Elementary School, such as field trips, guest speakers, and for the purchase of materials in order to enhance students’ classroom experience.
Says Caryl DeFelice, President of the PTO and race organizer, "The PTO loves putting on this race each year and is grateful for all the support and funds the event draws, as it is what makes our enrichment programs possible. We appreciate all the participants who come out and support our school."
The race, which begins at 10 a.m. at the NewBrook Elementary School on Route 30 North in Newfane, includes free t-shirts to all pre-registered children, cloth shopping bags for adults, complimentary post-race massages, and free healthy refreshments.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three men and women finishers in each category (17-39, 40-55, and over 56), as well as top three boy and girl finishers in each category (under 7, 8-12, and 13-16).
