HILLSBOROUGH, N.H. -- The Hinsdale cross country teams were in Hillsborough on Saturday for the Hillcat Invitational. The Pacers placed fifth out of five teams for the boys with 87 points, and were missing two of their top five runners which took them out of contention. With those runners Hinsdale probably could have been in the hunt for the team win. The boys race was won by Conant with 45 points.

The girls placed third out of five schools with 66 points. The girls race was won by Monadnock with 30 points.

Schools in attendance were Conant, Monadnock, Hinsdale, Raymond, and host Hillsborough.

Tanner Nichols got a win in the boys race for the Pacers in 17:39. Kris Newell (18:06) of Monadnock hung with him for the first two miles before Nichols opened up a comfortable gap. Evan Dunkley was Hinsdale’s second finisher coming in eighth in 19:17.

The girls race was won by Maggie Girard of Hillsborough in 20:46. Hinsdale’s top finisher was Roxy Toussaint, who came in third place with a time of 21:18. Starr Bruce had a personal best with a time of 25:03 and a 12th place finish.

"We had a great day," said Hinsdale coach Glenn Hammett. "Ten athletes recorded personal bests. Nichols’ summer of hard work is starting to really pay off at the right time."

The Pacers head to Epping, N.H. on Tuesday for the Granite State Conference Championship.
