WHITE RIVER JUNCTION -- The Colonels (5-9) played their last regular season game to a 3-1 victory over Hartford (7-6-1), in a Thursday night varsity girls soccer matchup.
"We needed the win," said Colonel coach Edwin de Brujin. "Today we proved we’re still a great team. It was the icing on the cake."
The Colonels frustrated the Hurricanes early on with clean passing through the center from Anna Gagnon-Burch and Halie Lange on the right wing. They worked it to Biak Chia Tial on the cross so she could head in the ball during the first half to make it
1-0 at the break.
With 19 minutes on the clock, Brattleboro’s Taylor Bird dished it to Lange, who cut through the box for a slide tackle goal. Lange scored again on a kick from the corner as Brattleboro went for the shutout.
Hartford scrambled for a goal, and finally got one in the last two minutes of play.
