TOWNSHEND -- Riley Kenney, Drew Barnum and Jake Sherman all played really well at the defensive end, helping the Leland & Gray boys basketball team to an easy 70-22 victory over Green Mountain on Friday night.

"When we play like we did tonight, we are a tough team to beat. We are starting to come together as a team," said first-year Rebels coach Andrew Nystrom.

Andy Brown scored a game-high 13 points to lead the winners offensively. Kevin Ke and Billy Nupp followed with 11 apiece.

"He played fantastic. He made some nice moves and put on a show in one quarter. The fans loved it," said Nystrom of Ke.

The 7-1 Rebels will host Twin Valley on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

ST. JOHNSBURY -- Brendan O’Shea tallied 18 points, Vlad Cobzaru scored 15, and undefeated St. Johnsbury overcame a double-digit deficit in the first quarter to dispatch visiting Brattleboro.

Jack Grinburgs added 10 points for SJA (8-0), which led 26-21 at halftime after trailing 14-3 at the end of the first quarter.

Isaac Roach paced Brattleboro with nine points. The 3-6 Colonels had lost to the Hilltoppers at home, 73-31, on Dec. 21, 2012.

WILMINGTON -- Connor Fegard poured in 20 points, with most of them coming from the free throw line, to lead the Wasps.

"He’s strong inside," said Twin Valley coach Chris Brown, whose team opened up a 15-6 lead in the first eight minutes but went to the break tied 20-20.

Colin Lozito and Dal Nesbitt paced the hosts with 15 and 14 points respectively. Sam Molner pulled down a dozen boards.

The Wildcats made just six of 29 shots from downtown on the evening.

"We did not shoot well," noted Brown.

Twin Valley (2-6) will play at Arlington on Monday. The Wasps improved to 4-4 overall.

CASTINE, Maine -- Mary Richardson of Vernon scored six points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists in Johnson State’s 62-45 loss to Maine Maritime on Friday. The freshman guard from Brattleboro Union High School is averaging 14.3 points per game.
