ARLINGTON -- Molly Elwell scored 15 points and Julia Lacoste added 11 as the Arlington Eagles soared past the Twin Valley girls basketball team, 42-17, on Wednesday night.

The Wildcats turned the ball over a season-high 29 times.

"We just don’t value the ball. We’re our own worst enemy," said Twin Valley coach Buddy Hayford, who noted that his team missed a lot of easy layups in the opening half.

Jordan Niles paced the Wildcats with four points, which is the lowest team-high that Hayford can remember in his 26 years at the helm. Hannah Swanson grabbed 10 rebounds.

"In the first half, we played some great defense," stated the Twin Valley coach, whose team trailed 5-3 after eight minutes of action and 14-5 at the intermission.

The 4-8 Wildcats will play at Mount Everett on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. The Twin Valley varsity boys will play in the second half of that doubleheader at 1 p.m.

Windsor 57, Bellows Falls 53

BELLOWS FALLS -- On Tuesday night, Windsor’s Tyson Boudreau hit a 3 with 30 seconds remaining to seal it. Mike Labeau paced the Terriers with 15 points, while Kendrick Mills chipped in with 12 points and five assists.

BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro PeeWees had another tough weekend of competition, falling to the first place Holy Name Stars Green team 8-2 in GSL play, followed by a hard fought 6-2 loss to Woodstock in

Vermont State play. Jakob Curtiss and Jacob Bailey each netted a goal in Saturday’s game against Holy Name with Joe Koes setting one of them up. Gavin Flynn accounted for both BHA goals in Sunday’s match with Dylan Reilly assisting on the first of those. The PeeWees are currently in 3rd place in their GSL division.

The Brattleboro Squirts won at home, with a 4-2 victory over Ludlow. The opening goal was scored by Mason Foard, assisted by Andrew Peloso and Suzanna Cornman. Andrew Peloso got the next one, unassisted, to end the first period. Aden McMahon got the tie breaker in the 3rd period with a laser of a shot, while Andrew Peloso netted the fourth goal to seal the victory. This win put BHA into fifth place in their division. The Squirts play in Springfield, Mass., on Saturday and host Greenfield on Sunday at 8:45 a.m.

The Bantams lost 3-2 on Saturday to Holy Name in a rematch from the week before. Daniel McMahon scored once on a wrap-around, and Pete Paasche took the puck coast-to-coast for the other BHA goal.
