WOODSTOCK -- Maddie Rollins had a hat trick on Saturday at Union Arena and the Brattleboro girls ice hockey team topped winless Woodstock, 5-1.
The Colonels took a 4-0 lead, thanks to three burials by Rollins and the first-ever varsity goal from Kellie Schiller. Madison Doucette, who assisted on one of the tallies by Rollins, scored the fifth goal for BUHS.
The Colonels (3-7) had a 37-8 edge in shots. Alex Fellows finished with seven saves.
"Louisa Strothman, Tana Bhanti and Dorothy Kinney-Landis were playing in their first varsity game and all three did a great job, with Strothman narrowly missing a goal on a shot that just missed the far post," noted BUHS coach Linda Burke.
The Colonels will host Northfield on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Feb. 9, the BUHS girls will be playing their annual Pink at the Rink game. A bake sale, face painting, and chuck-a-puck will be held with all monies collected being donated to the Young Survivor’s Coalition, a non-profit organization that provides support and services to young women battling breast cancer.
