TOWNSHEND -- Jordan Gouger hit a two-run homer out of the park and scored three runs, Cori Griffin singled and scored four runs, and the Rebels beat Bellows Falls, 12-3, on Thursday night.
"We made the plays, and our defense was sound," said Leland & Gray coach Tammy Claussen, whose team gets their fourth win in a three-game streak.
Elizabeth Symanski pitched a full game for the victors, striking out 12 Terriers, scattering seven hits, and walking five.
Chelsea Wilder started for Bellows Falls but was stronger at bat with a 2-RBI triple. Teammate Mackenzie Crawford hit safely. The Terriers scored all of their runs in the third. L&G’s Emily Thibault had a single.
The Rebs were up 10-3 after four innings.
"We had a couple of errors on routine plays," said Bellows Falls coach Pete Fry. "Symanski was tough. They didn’t have to work too hard, but it was a good win for them."
4-2 Leland & Gray will play at Burr and Burton on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
