Golf tourney returns to Walpole
WALPOLE, N.H. - The Walpole Historical Society will hold its second annual Vintage Golf Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 2. This will be played at the Hooper Golf Club in Walpole and tee time is 3 p.m. Format will be a nine-hole scramble. Participants may sign up as a foursome or the pro, Ron Rosko, will set golfers up with others to make a foursome. The old clubs and golf balls will be supplied. Prizes and picnic on the porch will follow with food homemade desserts. Wine and beer will be available, but not included in the cost of registration/ picnic.
The cost for the event is $50 per golfer if walking, or $6 with a cart. This includes the picnic. Registration will be confirmed when payment is received. Football camp for 4th-6th graders
BRATTLEBORO - The Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Department is hosting a Football Camp for children entering 4th, 5th and 6th grades. This camp will run the week of July 28 to Aug. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at West River Park and will be instructed by Brattleboro Union High School Head Coach John Callahan.
This is a non-contact, no-equipment camp. This program is open to non-experienced and experienced football players. Players will work on basic skills, drills, agility for both offense and defense, flag football scrimmages and more. All levels welcome. Bring cleats, mouth guard, T-shirt and shorts.

Youth soccer camp next month
BRATTLEBORO - The Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Department and Vermont Voltage Soccer Academy are offering a week of Voltage Soccer Camp, from Aug. 11 to 15, from 9 a.m. to noon at the West River Park Field. This camp is for all youth ages 5 to 18. Attention will be given to the instruction of good ball control habits and movement techniques in challenging drills and simulated match situations. Conditioning methods and training ethics are also stressed to prevent injuries and improve the young athlete's coordination and flexibility.
