BRATTLEBORO — Junior running back Jahyde Bullard and senior linebacker Aleks Harrison were both named to the 2015 ALL-USA Vermont Football's First Team.
Bullard helped Bellows Falls to an 8-1 record and the No. 2 seed in the Division 2 playoffs. He then carried the ball 24 times for 190 yards and a score, and also returned an interception for a touchdown, to lead the Terriers past Burlington 34-21 in a semifinal.
Harrison helped Brattleboro (4-5) reach the postseason for the first time in 10 years. He would then make six tackles during the annual North-South game.
Area players being named to USA Today's Second Team are: junior running back Cheick Diakite of Brattleboro, senior defensive back Taylor King of Brattleboro, senior defensive lineman Jake Lober of Bellows Falls, and senior defensive back Zac Streeter of Bellows Falls.
Burr and Burton's Jason Thomas was named the Vermont Coach of the Year after leading the Bulldogs to a perfect 11-0 record and the D-2 championship. Otter Valley's senior quarterback Carson Leary (1,729 rushing yards, 828 passing yards) earned Offensive Player of the Year. And Rutland's Andy Kenosh (11 interceptions) is the Green Mountain State's Defensive Player of the Year.
