WHITINGHAM >> Brianna Rafus had a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) to power the Twin Valley varsity girls basketball team to a 51-17 rout of Long Trail on Wednesday.
"We just ramped up the pressure in the second half and ran away," said Twin Valley coach Buddy Hayford, whose team took a 21-15 lead to the break.
Tayler Courchesne scored a team-high 11 points and Sammy Morse finished with 10. Teya Johnson (8 points, 6 steals), Kirra Courchesne (7 points, 8 rebounds) and Kendell Howe (5 points, 5 rebounds) also stepped up.
The 4-5 Wildcats will host Mid-Vermont Christian today at 5 p.m.
Bellows Falls varsity girls basketball
POULTNEY >> Abbe Cravinho scored 11 points to lead the Terriers past Poultney, 56-26. on Wednesday night.
"Our guards did a great job of pressuring the ball and breaking their press. We got all-around great team play," noted Bellows Falls coach Joe Goodhue.
Hannah Kelly and Murphy Hicks each netted nine points for the winners. Molly Kelly ended up with a crazy eight.
Twin Valley varsity boys basketball
WHITINGHAM >> Justin Hicks went off for 22 points and eight steals to lead the Wildcats to a 75-32 victory over Long Trail on Wednesday. Brett Swanson added 17 points for the 5-4 Wildcats, who will welcome West Rutland on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Men's Rec League
BRATTLEBORO >> Brown Enterprise defeated Brattleboro Ford/Subaru 77-74 and Dixon's Painters edged FTSP 83-81 in a couple of men's basketball league thrillers on Wednesday at the Gibson-Aiken Center.
Winston Sailsman (17 points), Shawn Goodell (16) and Barry Chamberlain (15) did the damage for the Enterprise. Five different players scored in double figures for the dealership, led by Corey Bauer's game-high 19.
Jeremy Thomas drained four treys and finished with 18 points to pace the painters. Andrew Loney and Kassidi Ramirez scored 28 and 20 points respectively for FTSP.
