WHITINGHAM >> After the Twin Valley varsity girls basketball team went 12-9 and the varsity boys basketball team went 16-6, winter sports awards were presented to the following players.

DJ Lazelle, who scored eight points in Twin Valley's quarterfinal loss to Hazen, earned the Coaches Award for the varsity boys team.

The highlight for the Lady Wildcats was when coach Buddy Hayford got his 400th career victory. Kirra Courchesne (Wildcat Award), Tayler Courchesne (Team Player Award), and Kendell Howe (Sixth Man Award) received the hardware.

Junior varsity players that earned awards are: Makayla Boyd (Defensive), Tatyanna Bowman (Coaches), Jarett Niles (Offensive), Tyler Janovsky (Sportsmanship), Josh Carpenter-O'Hearn (Most Improved), and Hayden Reed (Coaches).

In addition, Tayler Courchesne, Kirra Courchesne, and Lazelle were all named to a Marble Valley League First Team, while Skyler Boyd, Justin Hicks, Brett Swanson, Teya Johnson, and Brianna Rafus were all named to an MVL Second Team. And Chris Brown earned MVL C Division Coach of the Year honors.

Skyler Boyd was placed on the VBCA Division 3-4 Boys Dream Dozen Team. Kirra Courchesne, Brianna Rafus, Justin Hicks, and DJ Lazelle will all play in the March 12 VBCA Senior Classic in Windsor.
