BRATTLEBORO >> Brattleboro Gymnastics performed with skill, grace and poise at this year's Hip Hop Classic, hosted by Woodman Athletics.

Janie Hawthorne captured two gold medals, for all-around and balance beam — sticking some new, more challenging moves in the level 8 senior division. She and Lily Pabo tied for gold on bars. Hawthorne took silver for her dynamic tsuk on vault and 5th on floor. In addition to her win on bars, Lily Pabo came in 3rd in the all-around and 4th on floor, with her crowd pleasing moves to the music Mission Impossible. With a strong finish, Moriah Pabo took silver on floor and beam, 3rd on bars and 5th in the all-around.

Jade Stevens-Mills' hard work in the gym and in the dance studio paid off. Stevens-Mills handily took gold on floor, and silver in the all-around and on bars in the level 5 junior division. With the most gymnasts in their group, Brattleboro Gymnastics level 4 impressed spectators with daring moves. Senior C division tumbled and stretched their way to success with Taylor Smith capturing silver on floor with a score of 9.325 as well as placing 4th on beam and in the all-around. Reese Miner placed 6th on bars and 8th in the all-around, while the spirited Kiera Noble came in 5th on vault and 7th on beam.

Spunky Sara Miller took 3rd in the all-around as well as 3rd on vault in the level 4 senior B division. She placed 4th in bars, beam and floor.


Level 4 junior C division gymnast Kali Taylor placed 3rd on beam, 4th on vault in the all-around and 7th on beam. Her determined teammate Hailey Haughey tied for 5th in the all-around, as well as capturing 4th on floor and 5th on bars.

Energetic level 4 junior B gymnast Maxine Lehnartz took 5th on floor and vault and 7th in the all-around and tied for 7th on beam.

Althea Champion dominated with gold in the all-around, with a soaring vault scoring a 9.3 in the senior A division of excel platinum. She took silver on beam, 4th on bars and 5th on floor.

Audrey Lamorder soared to a 3rd on vault and Avery White demonstrated dynamism, taking 4th on floor in the junior B excel platinum division. White put in a solid performance on all events, taking 5th in the all-around.

Ivy Dall and Kate Perrin competed with aplomb in the senior division of the excel gold competition, with Dall placing 7th and Perrin placing 8th.

Brattleboro Gymnastics gymnasts acquitted themselves well in the team competitions. Level 1 wowed with a 2nd place finish. Levels 3 and 8 came in a coveted 3rd place, and level 4 and excel gold and excel platinum all finished 6th.

The Brattleboro Gymnastics team is coached at the Brattleboro Rec Center by Amanda Montgomery, Paul Bloomer, Bethany Martin and Tetel Benton.
