BRATTLEBORO — Brattleboro Union High School graduates Nik Rancourt and Sam Siegel each had a hat trick during the Castleton University men's lacrosse team's 22-3 rout of Thomas on Saturday at noon.

Siegel now has seven goals and three assists for the 3-3 Spartans, while Rancourt has five goals and three dimes. Goalie Romello Lindsey, who is also a BUHS grad, has started two games and made 29 saves for Castleton this season.

Here is a look at what some other area standouts are doing at the college level.

MADDY DEROSIA >> The former Brattleboro Union High School star has stolen one base and scored five runs during her freshman season with the University of New Haven softball team. The 12-4 Chargers will play a doubleheader against Southern Connecticut State today at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

MICHAEL LABEAU >> The junior right-hander is 1-0 and has fanned 15 batters for the Castleton University baseball team. Last season, he finished with a Castleton-best 0.99 Earned Run Average.

KAYLA WOOD >> After pitching the Colonels to three state titles, Wood has went 19-8 and has 205 strikeouts for the Castleton softball team. The junior from Dummerston has thrown just four innings so far this season and has fanned seven.

MCKINLIE CARPENTER >> The sophomore catcher/outfielder from Vernon has two hits and has crossed the plate once this season for the 2-4 Castleton softball team. The Spartans will host a doubleheader with Norwich today at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.


PHILIP PERKINS >> The junior defender has 12 ground balls for the Johnson State College men's lacrosse team. Perkins, who is a Brattleboro Union High School graduate, and the 0-3 Badgers will host Husson on Saturday at 1 p.m.

PATRICK GILLIGAN >> The Vernon resident is listed as a junior member of the Castleton men's track and field team, which will debut at Fitchburg State in Massachusetts on Saturday.

CONNOR NEATHAWK >> The Johnson State College men's tennis player teamed up with Alex Harcourt in an 8-0 loss to Castleton at second doubles. The Bellows Falls graduate and the Badgers (0-3) will play at Norwich today at 3 p.m.

COREY NYSTROM >> After scoring four goals and dishing out three assists for the Johnson State men's soccer team in the fall, he is now a member of the JSC men's tennis team. The Leland & Gray grad fell to Andrew Overton of Castleton University 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.

KENDRICK MILLS >> Also a member of the Lyndon State College men's basketball team, the Bellows Falls grad is a sophomore midfielder on the LSC men's lacrosse team. The 0-4 Hornets will play at New England College today at 4 p.m.

SETH MARCIL >> The BUHS grad is playing in the top spots for the 4-0 Castleton University men's tennis team. Against Johnson State this season, he teamed up with Kevin Rosset for an 8-0 win at first doubles and also defeated Cole Hennessy 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.

SOREN PELZ-WALSH >> He was named the North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week three times during his first season with the Castleton University men's tennis team. The senior is 3-1 at No. 3 singles and has a 4-0 record playing with Quentin Barthe at second doubles.

GRETA LARSON >> The former Brattleboro Union High School tennis player helped the Lyndon State women go 3-9 on the courts in the fall. An Electronic Journalism major from Williamsville, Larson was on a winning doubles team and then lost at No. 6 singles in the last two matches of the season respectively.
