Vernon's Solomon Brow (33) won the Mini Stock race during Monadnock Speedway's season opener on Saturday night in Winchester, N.H.

WINCHESTER, N.H. >> Solomon Brow, of Vernon, started on the pole and went on to win the Mini Stock 20-lap feature on Saturday night at Monadnock Speedway.

Following an early caution, Brow kept a safe lead over defending champion Eric Pomasko and Matt Kimball. With one to go, Brow lapped Bill Lambert and brought home the win for the Slade & Brow Roofing Team. The top 5 finishers were Brow, Pomasko, Matt Kimball, Kevin McKnight and rookie Alexander Pearl.

The other winners on Opening Night were: Chase Curtis (Young Guns), Mike Stebbins (Lightning Stocks), Bill Kimball (Sportsman Modifieds), Chris Curtis (Super Stocks) and James Nowakowski (Thunder Stocks).

In the Lightning Stocks heat, Hinsdale's Tim LeBlanc took second, Pat Houle of Vernon finished fifth and Vernon's Hillary Renaud wound up in eighth. Stuart Wheelden of Guilford also started off strong, placing ninth in the Super Stocks race.

On Saturday at Monadnock Speedway the action will begin at 6 p.m., with Sportsman Modifieds, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Lightning Stocks, Young Guns and Classic Lites all on the program. General admission prices will be: Adults — $15, seniors and college students — $10, ages 13-18 — $5, and children 12 and under — free.
