BRATTLEBORO >> The Brattleboro Union High School varsity softball team fell to rival MAU, 9-3, on Wednesday afternoon at Sawyer Field.

"MAU is very good, but we made quite a few mental and physical mistakes. MAU capitalized on every mistake that we made. Without a doubt, we have to tighten up on defense. We couldn't string any hits together and couldn't get anything really going with the sticks. MAU hit the ball hard and definitely outplayed us in every aspect of the game," said Colonels coach Kelly Markol.

Hannah Wilson went the distance in the circle for the hosts, which scored all three of their runs in the seventh inning. She walked one, hit one batter and gave up nine hits.

Brattleboro (6-2) had five total hits. Jamie Mahoney doubled, while Hailey Derosia, Devin Millerick, Sylvia Patenaude and Bridget Duff all singled.
