BRATTLEBORO >> Brattleboro Union High School freshman Lauren McKenney received 51 votes to earn Reformer Athlete of the Week honors for April 24-30.
The rookie third baseman drove in six runs when the Colonels defeated Fair Haven, 13-4, including a two-run single and a grand slam that cleared the fence in left field. She then finished with two hits during Brattleboro's 14-0 rout of Otter Valley.
"She rocks," commented Patty Lawler O'Donnell, when voting for McKenney.

The Brattleboro Union High School varsity boys lacrosse player exploded for seven goals in his team's 14-13 loss to Amherst. The senior later added another burial when the Colonels took on Marble Valley League powerhouse Woodstock.
He struck out 16 while firing a one-hit shutout as the Bellows Falls varsity baseball team topped rival Springfield, 4-0. Illingworth also helped himself with a 12-pitch at-bat that ended with him delivering a two-run single.

He won the triple jump, 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles to help the Bellows Falls boys track and field team capture gold in the Junior/Senior meet at Fall Mountain. Snide, who is also a wrestler and football player, placed second in the 100.
