BRATTLEBORO >> In recent Brattleboro Babe Ruth baseball action, Eagles went 3-1 including victories over DMI, Hinsdale and Pepsi.
Jesse Jerome-Wrenn belted a clutch, two-run double to power Eagles past DMI 12-10. Emmanuel Keppel, Nate Lewis, Jeremy Rounds and Luke Williams all scored twice for the winners, with the save going to closer Keegan Lewis. Joe Rafus fanned seven and also had a pair of hits to lead DMI. Jack Price went home three times and Logan Morton doubled to left.
Tim Velazquez and Keppel combined for a one-hit shutout when Eagles routed Hinsdale 15-1. Rounds had a couple of hits and Nate Lewis scored three runs to pace the Eagles offense. Dylan Harden, Dan Tetreault and Nate O'Melia all hit the ball well for the Granite Staters.
Rounds struck out six to get the win and helped himself by rapping three hits as Eagles topped Pepsi 9-1. Velazquez followed with two hits, while Velazquez and Conrad Auerbach both played well defensively for the victors. Adam Newton pitched well and also had one hit for Pepsi, which also got solid contributions from Chris Frost, Hunter Beebe and Dillon Cudworth.
Eagles stranded 11 runners in a 6-5 loss to DMI. Kris Carroll powered the winners with three hits, Jack Price and David Erunski each crossed the plate twice, andn DMI got clutch pitching from Rafus, Morton and Shane Cyr. Keppel tripled for the Eagles, while Velazquez and Nate Lewis each reached base three times.
Tyler Millerick fanned 14 to help Pepsi pummel DMI 10-2. Frost, Newton and Millerick all went 3 for 4 to lead the attack. DMI's battery of Cyr and Carroll was outstanding.
Newton (4 K's) and Tanner Root combined for a shutout as Pepsi downed Hinsdale 12-0. Cudworth went 3 for 3 and Brett Worden had a pair of hits for the winners. Anthony Palomba had a good all-around game.
