WESTMINSTER >> Le Studio Gymnastics, now in its 37th year, is USA-Vermont Gymnastics' top pick for club/coach of the year. Le Studio was judged based on coaching resume, knowledge, professionalism, sportsmanship and volunteerism.
"I am so honored that Le Studio Gymnastics is viewed so highly. Our coaches and athletes work every day to make Le Studio a place for success in all levels of this sport," said Le Studio head coach and owner Kathy St. Pierre.
St. Pierre, along with Brian Post, Lynsey Moore, Marie O'Brien, Marisa Blumenfeld, Katie Wilkinson and Miss Lianne, work daily with instructional class gymnasts and competitive team girls and boys from ages 2-18.
"New to our staff this year, is nationally ranked coach Kevin Wenning. Kevin comes to us from Canada, and has trained top ranked Canadian athletes at the prestigious clubs of Gymnase Drummond, and Sher-Gym. We are so pleased that Kevin has made Le Studio his new home," stated St. Pierre.
Le Studio is also the home to Vermont's top ranked athlete, who not only made the regional team, but became one of a very few Vermont athletes in history to compete at a D-1 college. Maci Prescott, level 10, is now a proud member of the Cornell women's gymnastics team and will begin training later this summer.
"Maci is brilliant, and will be going to Cornell as part of the advanced engineering program. It is icing on the cake that she will also be competing for their women's team," said St. Pierre. "You can bet I will be front and center for her first home meet."
Eighty percent of Le Studio's enrollment is made up of instructional class children who go to class once or twice a week, for the pure joy of gymnastics and for fitness and fun. These classes are all about teamwork, speed, flexibility, strength and power that will continue to carry over to other sports as well as help them be better students.
"It is incredible that so many important and basic skills can be learned through the fun and powerful medium of gymnastics," stated St. Pierre.
In 2013, Le Studio became the home of the Southern Vermont Dance Academy.
"The addition of SVDA, headed by Miss Lianne, has been a huge asset to our company and in keeping with our school's philosophy and vision for family," St. Pierre said. "This year, being an Olympic year, we are ready for the influx of families with children who are eager to get involved with the wonderful, exciting and rewarding sport of gymnastics. We look forward to continuing our strong history of excellence in gymnastics and dance training."
Le Studio's competitive program has come a long way in its 37-year history. This year, it had top ranked junior Olympic athletes and team state success at every level. Its Bronze, Gold, Platinum and Level 7 teams all took 1st place at the Vermont state meet championships, and its silvers took second by a narrow margin. All of the athletes that were eligible made the regional championship team from the top Excel athletes to Junior Olympic Level 10.
