BENNINGTON >> Ayman Naser scored on a wild pitch to give the Bennington ages 9-10 Little League All-Star baseball team a thrilling 9-8 victory over Brattleboro in Game 3 of the District 2 series on Tuesday evening. Bennington won the series, 3-0.
Willem Thurber walked and scored on a double by Brandon Weeks to give Brattleboro a 1-0 lead. Will Hill, Degan Gundry and Bronson Finnell all had a hit during Brattleboro's five-run fourth inning that deadlocked the score at 8-8.
Bennington will play in the state tournament in Saint Johnsbury, which begins on July 22.

The American Ski Jumping Hall of Fame will induct Bernie Dion, Nita Englund, Ron Jacobson, Bruce Jennings, Lenny Johnson, Doug Maki, Nils Stolzlechner, Blair Tomten, Brattleboro native Dana Zelenakas, and Jon Denney on Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Mount Frontenac Golf Course in Frontenac, Minn. Zelenakas, who started jumping in the junior program at Brattleboro Memorial Park at age 7, competed in the 1972 Olympics in Japan.
Soccer Officials Training
Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Vermont Soccer Officials Association and becoming eligible to officiate varsity and sub varsity soccer games is encouraged to attend one of two training sessions in southern Vermont. The first training session is at the Black River High School Cafeteria on Thursday, July 21 at 6 p.m., with a follow-up scrimmage instruction on Thursday, July 28 at Dothan Brook School in Hartford at 5:30 p.m. The second training is being held at Whitcomb High School in Bethel, on Aug. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The training includes learning the rules of the game, a test, and a field practice.
